what is

What is, is. What actually is, in the moment, has a reality over and above our ideas about reality. In which world do we want to spend our life: the real world of what is; or the fantasy world of our ideas, our ideas about what is and our ideas about what should be, or what could be, or what was, or what might have been?

Ordinarily people live in their mind, with what is not, rather than living in the world of what is. This would not be such a disaster if everyone understood that they are living in their own fantasy world. But when we live in such fantasy, we usually take it to be the truth; somehow an objective truth to be mirrored in the outside world and to be agreed upon by other people. It can never be so.

Of course, the real world of what is rarely matches our expectations, our desires, our hopes. Then the frustration comes and the anguish, the anger. All the trouble of humankind comes because we take our mental world, our private little individual ideas about life, to somehow be reality, in a way which they are not.

See first that your ideas, your desires, your hopes, your expectations are but mental objects, personal to you and in no way reflecting what is. If you can see that clearly enough then the anguish will disappear. Also with it will go the urge to live in that world of ideas and thoughts about life. For the direct experience of what is, is infinitely more rich, varied and astonishing than our ideas about life.

So come, come and join the lucky ones living in the world directly, without need to change what is, or to dress it up as something which it is not. Just live with a direct perception of what is, without any need to analyse, without any need to think at all. With this, we see beauty everywhere and we see the flow of life, for we are no longer trying to keep things in one pattern, to freeze the river of life. This urge comes from the thinking mind with all its insecurities.

So come, dwell in the flow of what is – ever changing, ever new, unpredictable, yes chaotic, but rich beyond compare. Allow yourself to be surprised by life. Come to enjoy it as a child does. Whether you like it or not, what is is reality, is the truth – simple, straightforward, direct.
